Vijayakanth's Captain TV from April 14th

Vijayakanth’s Captain TV logo was released on January 14th, 2010. The trial broadcast of Captain TV will be on from March 15th and will go on till April 13th.

Satellite TV channel Captain TV will go on air from the 14th of April. Vijayakanth has planned to launch his channel in the biggest way possible. So he is inviting all the film hotshots in South India, including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Telugu star Chiranjeevi, etc. He has planned to make the occasion itself a programme on his TV channel.

This event will be mostly held in Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor stadium in Chennai.

Being the Former President of the Film Artists Association, Vijayakanth is expecting all his colleagues from the film industry to be part of the launch.

On the launch, sources say that the first movie that will be telecasted on Captain TV will be ‘Captain Prabhakar’. Another highlight of the event, sources say that on the invite list Indian Cricket Team Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is also included.
This 24 hours channel will be broadcasted through the INSAT 4B Satellite.

There would be serials, English films dubbed in Tamil, latest Tamil films, news etc. According to the press release, Captain TV will give prime importance to social issues and will have programs for women, children, students and the youth.

Since her Hindi film London Dreams in which she paired with Salman Khan was failure at the box office, she is back in Tamil film. The Malayalam film Body Guard had acted by Dhilip and Nayanthara. Director Jayam Raja Becomes Hero Raja

Tamil cinema Director Raja’s father ‘Editor’, producer Mohan says, “Raja is very handsome and has all the qualities and skills to become a hero. We are planning to launch him as an actor soon.”

Angadi Theru Movie Review - Good Film

Story :
Angadi Theru as the name indicates is all about a market or a bazaar street which is a constant in almost all the cities and towns. This time around Vasantha Balan has chosen to travel in one of such busy streets in Chennai, the Ranganathan Street and document the lives of people there focusing more on a famous shop called Senthil Murugan Stores. It is not only the noise and goods of a market place but he takes us through the lives of a thousand souls as well.
Jyothi Lingam (Mahesh) is a bright student and son of a mason who leads a happy life in his village near Tirunelveli. One day tragedy strikes as his father the only earning member dies in an unmanned railway gate crossing accident, and young boy now has to look after his mother and two sisters.

Due to circumstances, he is forced to abandon his studies, though he came first in his school in the board exam. Through a canvassing agent he gets a job along with his friend Marimuthu, as a sales boy in a textile showroom in Ranganathan Street in Chennai.

Mahesh, along with hundreds of others are employed at the Senthil Murugan Stores run by the big Annachi. In every floor in the textile showroom there are 50 to 60 sales boys and girls who have to work in pitiable conditions from early in the morning to late night, without any rest.

He meets Kani (Anjali) a fiery independent girl. The difficult and harrowing times in the store bring them together as they face up to a cruel and lewd store supervisor Karungali (director A Venkatesh in a stunning cameo), who beats up the boys and molests the girls when they play around during duty hours. As Mahesh says there is no escape from the “Jail like” atmosphere in the shop where employees are treated more like slave labour in a concentration camp than with any human dignity.

Vasanthabalan’s film is all about how young people barely out of their teens are fighting for survival for their daily existence under inhuman conditions, with basic human rights violated on a daily basis. The director puts the audiences through an emotional wringer with heartfelt dialogues of Jayamohan, and some scenes like a love struck sales girl jumping out of the fourth floor of the shop, the tearful climax which leaves a lump in your throat. The film has a positive ending that the human spirit will survive any crisis and life will go on.

Music :
Music is scored by Vijay Antony and G V Prakashkumar. Lyrics of Naa Muthukumar render the right feel especially in Aval appadi onrum azhagillai number. Kadaigalai Pesum is a smooth melody tuned in by G V Prakash which showcases Chennai at night. Richard M Nathan who had worked with K V Anand makes his debut as cinematographer and has worked in tandem with the mood of the film.

Negative Point :
The drawbacks of the film is that the story plods at a leisurely pace in the second half as the tempo slacks, songs are thrust into the narration, and at times it is too depressive.

Performed Artists :
It’s an overdose of emotions, yes, but you don’t mind it: simply because the characters have handled the scenes so skilfully. Mahesh as Lingam and Anjali as Kani are simply outstanding, they hold the film together. Shorn of any artifice or nervous energy Mahesh for a newcomer is a revelation. Anjali in a typical girl next door type role without any makeup is a natural. The guy who plays the hero’s friend and director Venkatesh has excelled in their short roles.

Conclusion :
Angadi Theru is an honest film. Full marks to Vasanthabalan, he has his heart in the right place. Ayngaran International, has guts for backing such a bold and brave film. The next time when we visit a market place, we are sure to stop for a while and muse perhaps a few moments about the life of a seller who has sold us a few mundane items. Thanks to Vasantha Balan!

RajiniKanth's Endhiran - 3D fashion - Postponed News

Endhiran which is a dream project of south Indian film director Shanker has a bad news for its fans. The movie releases is furthermore delayed and is postponed to October-November 2010.
Well, the delay in the project is bit disappointing news for all those who are eager to have a glimpse of it. But the good news is that the delay is worthy for the time as the reason is said to be addition of 3D affects.

After seeing the movie “Avatar”, Shanker desired to have his part of “Endhiran” follow the present 3D fashion. So, the entire production team of “Endhiran” is working on the dream and desire of Shanker and will re-work on 250 special affect mixing from now on.

The computer graphics- CG are almost complete and a portion of the film, which is the climax, has to be induced with some CG work. After canning a song, which is still in the recording stages, the entire film shoot will be winded off and then the post production work will resume in a couple of months again.

So, for this reason, the movie is said to take more 4 months time and is expected to be a grand Dasara 2010 release. AR Rahman has composed the music for this film, which features Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai in lead.

AADUKALAM - Dhanush Movie Reshoot

After the ‘Pollathavan’ hit Vettrimaran and Dhanush are joining again in ‘Aadukalam’ to do a perfection. The shooting for the film is complete and post production works are on.

Meanwhile Vettrimaran wanted to reshoot some scenes and the unit is co-operating fully. ‘Aadukalam’ is set in the back drop of Madurai town and for the patch work Vettrimaran is shooting in Red Hills area of Chennai at places that matches Madurai locations.

Dhanush plays his self of a brat who refuses to budge for anything. It has romance and action as well. Noted Srilankan Tamil poet Jayabalan plays the new villain in ‘Aadukalam’.
